About Anthropotamus

Anthropotamus is in collaboration with the American Anthropological Association and was created by Ashley Baeza and Les Teems. Its purpose has been to grow their interest in Anthropology and to share that interest with others. Anthropotamus has grown into a podcast that values the research of all backgrounds and perspectives to create a diverse and inclusive anthropological community.

Anthropotamus is a place for anthropology professionals and enthusiasts to come together to keep up-to-date with the latest anthropology news and events.

About the Creators


Ashley N. Baeza received her B.A. from California State University, Sacramento in Humanities with a minor in Middle East and Islamic Studies. She proceeded to spend six years in the U.S. Air Force as a photojournalist where she received her A.A. in Multimedia Production from the Community College of the Air Force. After separating from the military, Ashley received a second B.A. & a M.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno in Anthropology. She recently gained experience in cultural resource management and spent the summer in Poland learning to excavate human burials.

Les Teems - Anthropotamus co-host and co-creator

Les Teems is currently working towards his B.A. in Anthropology at Cosumnes River College and intends to transfer to U.C. Davis. His interests lie in archaeology and cultural anthropology. His pursuits expand into experimental archaeology that includes bow making and flint napping, including extensive experience in archery. Les has extensive public speaking experience and two years experience in podcast post-production.
